Lifting Heavy & Leaking? Why It Happens & How to Fix It | Frank's Pants

You’re locked in. The bar is loaded. You brace your core, creating that internal pressure belt to protect your spine. You pull. The weight moves. But as you lock out, you feel it - a sudden, unwanted release.
You can tell right away it isn't sweat.
If this sounds familiar, you aren't alone. In the world of heavy lifting, it’s a silent epidemic. You’re strong, you’re capable, but your body is reacting to the immense pressure you’re putting it under. It’s frustrating, it’s embarrassing and it’s killing your focus.
It’s Physics, Not Failure
First off, let’s kill the shame. Leaking when you lift, known as Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is often a mechanical issue, not a weakness of character.
When you perform a heavy compound lift like a squat or a deadlift, you perform the Valsalva maneuver. You take a deep breath and brace your core to stabilise your spine. This creates massive Intra-Abdominal Pressure (IAP). This pressure is great for your back, but it has to go somewhere. It pushes down on your pelvic floor and your bladder.
If that downward force exceeds the closure pressure of your urinary sphincter, you leak. It’s simple physics. It happens to powerlifters, Strongman competitors, and everyday gym-goers pushing their limits.
The "Just Deal With It" Trap
For years, guys have just dealt with it. They wear dark shorts. They rush to the bathroom between sets. They wrap towels around their waist "to wipe off sweat."
But the mental toll is real. Instead of visualizing your next rep, you’re visualizing a wet spot on your shorts. You’re holding back, not because your muscles can’t take the weight, but because you don’t trust your bladder.
You wouldn't lift with a belt that might snap. Why lift with underwear that can’t back you up?
The Solution: Gear That Grinds With You
This is exactly why we built Frank’s Pants. We saw guys leaving the gym early or quitting heavy lifts entirely because of leaks. That didn't sit right with us.
Frank’s Pants are designed to handle the pressure, literally:
1. Stealth Performance: Our absorbent tech is integrated directly into the boxer brief. It looks like premium athletic wear, feels like a second skin, and hides the evidence completely.
2. Heavy Duty Protection: Whether it’s a few drops from a heavy deadlift or a surge from a box jump, we’ve got you covered. Our materials lock moisture away instantly, preventing odour and that swampy feeling.
3. Stay in the Zone: When you know you’re covered, the fear disappears. You can brace as hard as you need to. You can grind out that final rep. The only thing you need to focus on is the lifting.
Why We Built This
We built Frank's Pants for every man who refuses to let his body slow him down. Our Founder saw how leaks stripped away confidence, from grandfathers to gym rats. He realised that the "solutions" on the market weren't suitable for the modern man.
We believe you shouldn't have to choose between lifting and staying dry. You deserve gear that respects the work you put in.
Reclaim Your Lift
Don't let a mechanical glitch dictate your training. Understand the physics, respect your body, and equip yourself with the right tools.
Load the bar. Brace hard. And let Frank’s Pants handle the rest.
